Singer/songwriter/actor Gary Lynn Floyd won Best Adult Contemporary award for his original “Unbound” the Hollywood Music in Media Awards at the Fonda Theater in Los Angeles. Floyd performed the song at the ceremony and The Global Women’s Empowerment Network’s (GWEN) co-founder and COO Tess
Cacciatore officially announced the song as the organization’s theme song.
Lyrics for “Unbound” underline the organization’s “Tell Us Your Story” campaign, which launched December 13 and runs through February 13, invites GWEN’s global community of members to share their vision, passion, and experiences of healing through the WeVideo (www.wevideo.com) cloud-based video editor.
Known for his soulful blend of pop, country and R & B, Floyd said he wrote the song “Unbound” after a period of soul searching. “I was living in Nashville and pounding the pavement, playing my songs for anyone who would listen. I had also been exploring the spiritual practices of meditation and yoga. It was a time of letting go of who I thought I was supposed to be and learning to become more authentic, not only in my life, but in my songwriting.”
In addition to Floyd, GWEN had three additional nominations: Frere Enemi, Heritage Project out of Brussels regarding Congo 2012 World Music; Providence, Ard Matthews, South Africa, 2012 Best Male Vocal; and “Politics of Love – Voices for Congo” written by Tess Cacciatore 2011 World Music.
GWEN Music launches early 2013 where you will be able to purchase and download amazing music from all over the globe. STAY TUNED!
